Child Compassion Challenge (CCC)
not only provides desperately needed funds for needy children,
it also allows those concerned about the environment to do their
part to recycle.
Both individuals and businesses, at home, or in the office use
printer cartridges, cell phones and small electronics (laptops, MP3 players, GPS devices, digital cameras).
Millions of these items are consumed and disposed of each year. This not only
magnifies a growing environmental problem, but also ignores a
financial opportunity. Empty inkjet cartridges, laser cartridges, used cell phones and small electronics
have intrinsic market value. Throwing them away is the same as throwing
away money. Child Compassion Challenge an innovative missions
funding program, captures this opportunity and redirects these
valuable funds. "What the world throws away, we can
recycle to redeem the life of a child." says Lillian
Sparks, former National Director of Assemblies of God Women's
Ministries.
Imagine having an after-school center located in at-risk
neighborhoods across the nation. A center located in an
Assemblies of God church that opens its doors from 3-6 p.m.
everyday. A center where Godly adults invest in the life of
children and youth whose future is at-risk. A place where
Spirit-filled mentors partner with parents, teachers,
counselors, and social service workers, helping an at-risk
student become all God intended them to be. A center that
provides a healthy snack, homework help, recreation, one day a Bible Club (character building Bible lessons),
another day practical living skills, and another day a
read-aloud time, where children, not only learn life lessons from the
stories they hear, but also acquire a love for reading. Imagine
each day volunteers invest time tutoring a child or young person
in academic areas of weakness and at the end of each day the
various age groups meet together as a family for worship,
prayer, and connecting with each other. Imagine having a Godly
man or woman committed to walking with a child or adolescent
through life.
What you have just imagined is real and takes place each day
at a KidCare Center for Child and Youth Development. By
partnering with KidCare America and CCC you are instrumental in
raising up a new generation of leaders from among the most
at-risk communities in our nation. By mobilizing lay leadership,
using existing buildings, and having a national organization to
empower and resource local KidCare America Centers, we can change the
future of our nation, one child at a time.
